No more Virgins in Wigan

Started by: orrellite (2427)

They have lost the franchise for the West Coast main line,First have won it from December and looks like they will be called Horizon Trains, it has been suggested that there will be more services calling at more destinations whilst keeping the fast trains, sounds good but lets wait and see

The rail fare hike will cover the costs.

in the good old days when we had a proper railway system,we had four big companies who ran the railway as a service to the people of this country.they did make profits, but never large profits.when the wanted to upgrade bridges, tunnels ,track, stations etc they funded it from their own money.they did not hike the fares , service to its valued customers was very important to them.you could drop any parcel off anywhere, and at any time in the uk and expect prompt delivery.if it was livestock it was feed and watered, breakages and missing parcels was an extremely rare occurence.
what have we got now, cattle trucks for humans who most deffinately are not feed and watered for free.overcrowding and overcharging to the extreme.
successive useless govts that just want to get as much in as possible and to hell with the people who use the rail "service".
take a look over a period of years at the antics of railtrack, some of the avoidable accidents that have happened during their tenure as track maintenance and signalling overlords.part of the high cost of travel by train is down to their excessive charges, whilst maintaining the system in a minimal way.i am not sure i would let them put a picture rail up for me.

however we must once again look at the failure from the club members who inhabit westminster for such goings on.

Not surprised Branson was livid, he rejuvenated rail travel on the West-Coast main line
